We've sailed the BVI for more times than I can recall off hand, and while we'll certainly be back, we would like to venture forth and try somewhere else. I'd love some first-hand suggestions re/ island(s), charter company used, favorite harbors, restaurants, etc. Doesn't need to be long or in any more detail than you wish, just looking for some trustworthy advice to point me in a good general direction.

Thanks in advance, cheers

Grenadines without a doubt
Charter out of blue lagoon in st Vincent
Moorings for premier boats , barefoot for 2 nd tier

Second choice is the Abacos
Again moorings out of Marsh Harbor
I would not charter from 2nd tier

The Grenadines are a must-see. I second Barefoot out of St. Vincent.

Third vote for Grenadines & Barefoot. And make sure you spend some time on St. Vincent before or after... Keishawn is a great driver/guide, and the island is really lovely - one of my favourites.

I just this morning received an email from Horizon announcing their new location in St. Vincent at Blue Lagoon, same location as Barefoot & TMM - so the choices are getting better! It looks like they also still have their Grenada location.

Here's a nice link to their St. Vincent location, with a video of sailing the Grenadines...

+4!

We hired Keishawn to drive us around the island for a whole day, and it was great!

Yes, by your recommendation, we asked for him specifically, it turns out his Aunt is the guide we had the 1st time we went there, back in 1999! What a reunion that was!

Wish I was going back sometime soon... ~sigh~

Hey Guys and Gals,
Had a real long conversation with Keishawn's Aunt and she said he has gone to OTHER interests. What a shame. Great guy, we were true friends and he would always remember me as the only one to Charter their 52.2, Capt. only, as a Bareboat.
Seth is on an extended sabbatical and taking some well deserved time to himself.
I've met the new GM that lets Mary takes some time to herself. Good guy.
All in all I give Barefoot 5 thumbs up.

Very interesting, and useful, see, this is why I love forums like this. Grenadines would not have been my first impulse, glad I asked. The Cruising Guide to the Leeward Islands 2014-2015 edition by Chris Doyle arrives tomorrow.

Please feel free to continue the above conversation; further suggestions, advice, insights, comments, observations, snide & sarcastic remarks, etc. still welcome as always.

cheers

Oh! To be back!

We spend 14 days in the Grenadines. Two days at most places, was very relaxing!

I would definitely recommend Bequia, and if you get a chance, stay a night at Petit Nevis, just south of Friendship Bay.

We spent two nights in Tobago Cays, and then another two nights on the way back up... loved having 14 days!

My photos are here - you do not need to be a facebook member:

Grenadines

Grenadines Part 1

Grenadines Part 2

Mayreau is my FAVOURITE place in all of the world...so far. We love bringing stuff that they may need, let me know if you're interested, I'll give you some email addresses...

Walker, we definitely have to do a sailing trip together! Let's try planning something for 2015?

The info is now a little dated but it's a great read

PS: all the material referencing a guy named Herve is pure fabrication and has nothing to do with me
