It's been a while since I posted a picture of the day.
Thought I'd try to put some up once in a while.

Here's a picture of the Scrub Island Resort, BVI, with Marina Cay and anchorage in the background.

What can I say, the Scrub Island Resort is beautiful!

They have a pretty good deal for an overnight on the dock for visiting yachties.

Bathrooms are nice and clean.
Swim up bars and two-level swimming pool. Water slide.
Spa facility.
Nice restaurant, and of course rooms for the land-based.

We'll be back!

You forgot to mention Davide as their Executive Chef! They have great price-fix menus at Caravel, I think either $55 or 60/pp for 3 courses - great deal!

It's one of my favourite stops too....

Good to know!

I've never actually eaten there. blush
Well, that's a lie... I've had the conch fritters at the swim-up bar.
They were excellent! laugh

I love the way a mono sails.
I love the livability of a cat when it's anchored or tied up to the dock.

When it's just me and the Mrs. we charter a mono.

When I'm not paying, I can handle being a cat. ~grins~

Still love monos WAY more than cats - we usually only sail the two of us, so don't need all that room...don't like the way they sail, and don't like the cost!

I also prefer monos, but the admiral doesn't like for the boat to heel, so we normally do cats.

I never said it on TTOL but what is the Admiral thing, never really got it. I would think it is somewhat derogatory.

I think it's derogatory!

I'm a woman, I captain my vessel and I would never call Jim Admiral...

I think it's because most guys have wives/partners who really don't want to sail, so everything always ends up being up to the "boss", in which case the Admiral outranks the Captain.

Whoever started using it to describe their wife however, I'd like to bop them!

The Admiral thing comes from the general perspective "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."

And that is just so many ways wrong.

If you guys are married to women like that, I sure feel sorry for y'all!

don't even get Nina going on that subject. We hired a new cook the first day he called Nina "honey", believe me it was the last time.

Now Dawn... Rolling Eyes

We don't mean nuthin!

I look at this a little differently.

Nobody wants a Captain Bligh at the helm, shouting orders and doing as he pleases irrespective of others' wishes and comfort.

I think the point is simply to be considerate of you're wife's wants while sailing.
IMHO there are too many gung-ho type-A egomaniacs at the helm.

Calling your wife 'The Admiral' is simply a humorous attempt at recognizing this fact.
Nothing more.

It may be that she is happy as a clam romping along close-hauled in 8-10 foot waves with about 25 degrees of heel on the hull.

My wife can actually take this kind of punishment better than I can!
I'll be contemplating seeing breakfast for the second time while she's still waving her fist at the gale and shouting "Is that all you've got!?"

However, it may well be that she'd rather wait out weather like that at the Spa with a glass of Chardonnay in hand.

If that's the case, Capt. Bligh had better listen, least he lose his sailing partner!

Placing your spouse's needs above your own will guarantee a long and happy marriage.

We're celebrating our 25th Anniversary this year! So maybe I'm doing something right.
