Ok, so all the suggested " iteneraries" suggest a counterclockwise flow, ie, Norman, Cooper, North Sound, Anegada, Jost,

So, we have done this, with variations

Last trip, we ran into a grizzled old charter captain at Sydney's who says he always goes the other way around...

Didn't get to ask any more, or why, etc.

Thoughts?

The reason for CCW is that it puts the long sail on the north side of Tortola to the west - downwind. That sail (typically 25 or more miles) will be a long haul upwind.

If he prefers the other way around, he must like all-day beats.

Actually, that week the wind came around SE, SSE.

We went around ccw, had a nice easy reach from jost to marina cay, followed by a quick easy sail to north sound the next day.

Pays to stay flexible

We've fallen into the habit of leaving STT and heading to Jost, then to CGB, and then to Lee Bay or Marina Cay via the cut at Monkey Point and Little Camanoe Pass.
Then we usually hit The Baths early and then up to see Nick and Monica at Leverick. After that it's off to Anegada for a few days, then a long run down to somewhere between Scrub and Jost. Not exactly a circle, but works for us!
