We will be chartering a boat at the end of January 2013 through Sunsail. I'm trying to figure out our route. We only have 5 days so we are limited. We probably don't want to sail more than 4-5 hours each day. We also would like to use mooring ball as often as possible. Any suggestions on a route?

Assuming you're leaving from Whickham's Cay near Roadtown, Tortola.

1) Tortola -> Norman Is. See the Caves, hang on the beach.
2) Norman-> Marina Cay (mooring) or Scrub Island (dock)
3) Marina Cay -> Monkey Point day stop and then on to Great Harbor, Jost (mooring)
4) Hang Out as Soggy Dollar Bar all day, White Bay, Jost. (Dingy from GH to WB)
5) Early start, sail from GH to Roadtown, Tortola.

1. Road Town to North Sound or Marina Cay.
2. Anegada
3. Anegada to White Bay for lunch. Overnight in Great Harbor or Little Harbor
4. Cane Garden Bay
5. Norman Island

Thanks for the info. I think Anegada might be to far. Most of the people are new and haven't sailed before and don't really want a long day. How long does it take to get to Anegada?

North Sound to Anegada is 11 miles on an easy reach. Two hours or less. The sail down to JVD is about 26 miles on a reach. Don't be too concerned about Anegeda. People make too much of it because it's not line of site. Buy Walkers approach chart available on this site and you will do fine.

We have also been in BVI recently. We started from Tortola to Cooper Island then to Virgin Gorda then to Norman Island...it's very beautiful...!!! Smile

No matter where you go, you'll have to come back again to go somewhere you missed. It's great to have a plan, but that's all it should be - a plan

You might decide to stop somewhere along the way and stay, or not move from the night before - so don't get too worried about where you need to be, and enjoy where you are!

It's all good, and you don't have to see it all the first time you go - if you're like the rest of us, you'll be back time and again!
