Honeymoon Beach is a very beautiful spot right next to Caneel Bay on St. John, USVI. There are some moorings placed by the Park Service, but they could use some more. Or maybe just keep the ones they have. Don't want this to turn into a Cooper Island.

Do you go through customs before you stay there? We have never done this because we don't want to have to go through customs, but it sounds too good to miss!
Thank you!

Lyn,
First of all, where are you coming from to Honeymoon Beach? If you are coming to St. John from St. Thomas, which I assume you are, than you don't have to pass through Customs and Immigration. Only when you leave US territory or enter it from another country do you have to go through C & I.
Honeymoon Beach, while a beutiful place to visit, doesn't have any accomodations, I don't think. We have anchored there only and enjoyed the beach, but have never explored the posssiblilty that there may be accomodations.
We don't stay at any of the places on St. Thomas or St. John. We have stayed at Gallows Point, but we won that trip. We stay on the boat, and that way we can enjoy may places in the USVI and the BVI, and stay as long as we wish.
Have fun,

Art,
We will be coming from Tortola or Norman Island. We have heard so much about Honeymoon Bay, but need to know if we have to go through customs, or if you can just stay there for the night.
Thanks,
Lyn

Lyn,
The rules say, when you are entering or leaving US or British Territory, you must check out for example , with BVI customs, and when you get to St. John, you must go to Cruz Bay,( you can leave the boat anchored at Honeymoon Bay and take a taxi to customs and immigrations.) In the US, all members of crew must be present with ships papers, etc. BVI only the captain and papers. Having said that, you can anchor in Honeymoon Bay, raise you quarantine flag, and as long as you dont leave the boat, you can stay there overnight. Any longer and you will want to check in.

PS> if you are chartering, you will get a Cruising Guide, and it will have all the ins and outs you need.
